Joggles Class Give-Away

I have been spending much of my "creative" time doing backgrounds and journal pages, and trying to improve my drawing skills.  Here is an opportunity for a give-away that would be right up my alley:  an online class with Melanie Testa at Joggles, titled Let's Exchange Some Art!

Here is the class description:

The class will teach you to paint and surface design PAPER! Make stamps and stencils, and play with ideas of composition and color. We will create three projects using these techniques, Artist Trading Cards, Tag and MAIL ART. We use the postal system as an art gallery, making our own envelopes and sharing the fun with one another within the group.

And here are some pictures of the product samples from the class.

Visit Melanie's blog to enter the drawing, or Joggles.com to sign up for the class.

Yesterday, my art quilt bee met, and many members brought a sample of Pojagi, a Korean method of joining patches of sheer fabrics.  I missed that meeting and all of the material about it, but was impressed with the delicacy and simplicity of the pieces.  Some used hand-stitching and others machine. The seams are felled or clean-finished, and show through the sheer fabrics almost like leading in a stained glass window.

There are some examples of Pojagi here on Magsramsay's blog.

I found a You-Tube video with a Korean instructor at Rhode Island School of Design working with students on the creation of Pojagi fabric.

For yesterday's focus, our group learned from digital photography expert Ruth-Ellen Flanagan how to print on twill tape and also transfer photos via TAP (Transfer Artist Paper.)  I recently used TAP and was familiar with the product, but was rather amazed at the printing on twill tape.  Sorry, forgot to take pics.  I had to leave early to meet a repairman at the house (who was to arrive between 1:00 and 5:00, and of course did not arrive until 4:45 PM).  While waiting, I almost completed the quilting on a raffle quilt that is looking pretty!  Will post pics as soon as it is finished.
