Here's What I've Been Doing

Busy, busy, busy.  I must say I am not too happy with spending my days organizing and de-cluttering...but must be done!  Today I had to wait for a repairman, so I decided to work on the kitchen cabinets.  Goal...try to make everything look spacious!  We have these very tall kitchen cabinets.  I can't reach the top two shelves without a step stool.  My cabinets (and closets)  usually are so full that the doors barely close.

So...how many bottles of steak sauce and Worcestershire sauce do you think two people really need?

When I was done, I was so artistically organized, I could have put glass doors on the cabinets to show off the contents.

When is the last time you looked at the date stamps on your spice jars?  The US started requiring date stamps on food products sometime during the nineties.  Before then, most companies had a code to identify the manufacturing date.  I threw out everything that had an expired "use by" date, or even worse, had the puzzling numeric code stamped on the bottom.

Which left my cabinets looking a little bare.  But very spacious!

After inhaling a bit too much Clorox cleaner from disinfecting the kitchen, I went outside and took some pictures of the yard in June.  One of the crepe myrtles is blooming, looking lovely against the blue sky.

I have weeded and put out 45 bags of mulch to make the garden beds around the house look neat and orderly.  (And I am getting too old for that chore!)

The knockout roses I planted out front are blooming nicely.

I am ready to quit cleaning and organizing and head to the beach.  We leave on Saturday morning for our annual week at Sunset Beach, North Carolina.  This year is going to be very special.  My oldest son, Bryson, is getting married on the deck of our cottage at sunset!  Here are Bryson and Melissa last year during our beach week.

In addition to a wonderful new daughter-in-law, we will be getting a handsome new grandson.  Actually, I have counted him as one of the grand-kids for a several years now.  Caden will be five in July.

So, we have lots of good things to look forward to!   My DIL Emily, son Dave, and I have been making secret plans for the wedding, and we can't wait to get down there!

Can't wait to see pics of the wedding. Isn't it nice to get another grand child. TJ's parents have been wonderful to E, even though he's not really theirs. Couldn't ask for better grandparents for him.

Hi, Good luck with the impending sale of your home. I have just moved to Boone... and found your blog. Loved the pictures.
