The Kiss of the Sun

I wanted to make something bright and colorful for my journal, so I used Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water-soluble crayons to color these joyous flowers and the backgrounds.  Then, I decided that this poem by Dorothy Gurney would be perfect on the right side.  That background could be the sun radiating its warmth to the earth, or perhaps it is a portal to...Heaven?

The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One is nearer God's heart in the garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

Dorothy Gurney
1858-1932
